Kumar (Rajesh Khanna) puts in a great deal of hard work to realise his dream of becoming one of the biggest industrialsts of the country. His family consists of his loving wife, two younger brothers, a sister and a servant, Krishna (Govinda). Although they are his step-brothers and sister, Kumar loves them immensely as he would love his own children. Unfortunately, Kumar faces a downfall in his business and his debts run into crores. His step-brothers refuse to help him. An emotionally shattered Kumar suffers a heart attack. Quite unlike Kumar's own family, Krishna looks after his master through all his financial troubles. However, life becomes more miserable for Kumar when his brothers throw him out of the house. Meanwhile, Krishna goes to Bombay and becomes a movie actor. He soon becomes the most sought-after star in Bollywood. He, however, remembers Kumar a lot and decides to clear all his debts. But Kumar has become hard to trace.
